Emacs 25.2 Released

The bug fix version of Emacs 25.2 is released.  More information can be seen in the official announcement

The first release candidate for what will be the 25.2 release of Emacs is out. 

Windows Binaries are out too

Looks like the binaries for Windows 32 and 64 bit can be found in the pretest folder, done by Philip Lord.  If you have any worries about downloading from sourceforge that is.

Emacs 25.1 released

Finally, Emacs 25.1 is released.  The windows binaries would take some time to turn up. Hopefully the new TLS features would help in setting up mail connectivity easier to deal with.

Ma Gnus v0.16 is released

The last separate release of Gnus.  Future releases will be from the Emacs git trunk.  This release is mostly bug fixes and the release notes are found in the link above

First Pretest of Emacs 25.1 out

The first pretest of Emacs 25.1 is out. Do test and report any bugs

EmacsConf 2015 (Announcement)

This should be interesting in that there's enough buzz for a Emacs conference.  And they're looking for speakers. This is in San Franscisco, CA.

Emacs 24.5 released

In what is  a bug fix release, Emacs 24.5 is out.

Emacs Tip: ESC ESC ESC is the same as C-g

If you want to abort some action and were used to ESC on Windows, the  only difference in Emacs apparently, is to hammer away at the ESC key to mimic C-g.  It might be a good idea to do a C-h k ESC ESC ESC to check the chords description.

Update your package search url as melpa.milkbox.net is now melpa.org

It's been a couple of days but the url has changed to melpa.org. You may need to change your .emacs file  from ("melpa" . "http://melpa.milkbox.net/packages/") to ("melpa" . "http://melpa.org/packages/")

Emacs 24.4 released

Well, here's the official release mail on Emacs 24.4.  The Windows versions aren't out yet but will turn up in a few days.

Looks like Emacs release candidate is out and that the official release will come in a few days.  In related news, Alexander Shukaev has posted on the help-gnu-emacs mailing lists about providing precompiled Emacs versions along with the DLLs for Windows.  It may save time for those of you who need specific features that are not compiled into the official release.  You should direct your queries to Alexander, on the list, I think, if you need any clarifications.
