An eviscerating review of OpenOffice 3.0

Man, I'd be gutted if something I developed was reviewed and savaged like this.

I'd still use OpenOffice though.  It's not like I use Office suites frequently but when I receive the odd doc and I want to make some changes, save as PDF etc., I use Oo.  I'm anyway going to download and install it in a few days.

Not to mention the reviewer seems to be a bit of an idiot. You know, omitting Abiword and Gnumeric.

Apparently doesn't know what linear programming is (had to steal the example from a developer work's article on GLPK).

Weak. Of course what would you expect from the Register?

That was actually an entertaining (gasp) tech article.

@Anonymous@ - he probably didn't mention Abiword because it sucks balls as well (haven't tried Gnumeric so I can't say anything about it).

The article says some hard realities -- OO has a poor UI. It's also more bloated than Word 2003 -- way more bloated. If I have to choose between Word, Emacs, and OO -- it's Emacs first, Word second, then OO only if I absolutely have to.
