Suggestions for a RSS Reader?

Can anyone suggest a good RSS reader, please?  I used to use fastladder but that unfortunately has closed down.  I don't want to use Google Reader and i find the mozilla addon sage a bit old.  I'd prefer something that is browser based with little footprint and something that shows the unread article count.

Suggestions?

Update: Thanks all for the comments, I went with newsblur. It doesn't even ask for an email registration!

+1 for Feedly (http://www.feedly.com/) :).I used it about 2 years. It had officially plugins for both Firefox and Google Chrome. You can organize your feeds very easy into categories, beside it also integrate smoothly with Google Reader. Hope it's useful for you :).

+1 for the gwene.org + Gnus combination. Feed reading as it was meant to be.

I prefer to host my own web based feed reader with rssLounge: http://rsslounge.aditu.de

I use netvibes.com . It has multiple view styles and is ad-free.

My favorite is NewsBlur. It is the best feed reader I've ever used browser-based or not. It also has a great Google Reader integration.

You can host your own version of it using the sources you can find here if you hit the free account limits (up to 64 sites, which is fine for me) and don't want to get a premium account.

I second NewsBlur.

Newsbeuter is quite nice. Curses-based and very fast.

I use Gnus with nnrss newsgroups; works reasonably well, except that some that some feeds post old messages as if they were new. There's a trick on Emacswiki for converting atom feeds to RSS.

For those who use gwene.org with Gnus, I'd be grateful to learn what the advantage is over nnrss.

Mark, gwene.org does not require the atom hack and it refreshes a lot faster. I use nnrss too but only for private feeds and have set them up on a higher level so I don't need the refresh them when I want my news fix.
